Should we welcome our new AI overlords?

There’s been much in the media recently about artificial intelligence and how tools such as ChatGPT are going to revolutionise our lives.
And this will probably include replacing some of us at work, with jobs in software development, copy-writing, financial analysis and market research being cited as among those under threat. But:
Any change like this usually ultimately leads to opportunity, just as the introduction of looms to the textile industry meant weavers were laid off but the Industrial Revolution created all manner of new roles.
Human relationships should not be underestimated, especially in important matters. An AI might have access to details of every legal case in history but wouldn’t you prefer a human barrister to represent you in front of a jury?
Many companies already use algorithms to take recruitment decisions and, providing the teething troubles can be solved (discrimination, bias towards particular profiles, difficulty gauging personality, etc), the future of volume recruitment almost certainly involves AI. But at leadership level where hiring decisions are more nuanced and the risk of damage from recruiting the wrong person so great? People will surely continue to work with people.
